René Baumann (DJ BoBo) wuchs in Kölliken im Kanton Aargau auf. Ein Hobby in seiner Kindheit und Jugend war unter anderem Fußball. Als Platzwart beim FC Kölliken verdiente er sein erstes Geld, das er in Discobesuche steckte. Doch danach startete die Eurodance Zeit und somit auch die Karriere von Dj BoBo.
Seit Oktober 2006 ist DJ BoBo nationaler Botschafter des Welternährungsprogramms WFP der Vereinten Nationen (UNO) und unternahm im Rahmen dieses Projekts Anfang März 2007 und Oktober 2009 Reisen nach Äthiopien und Kenia.
