Christoph Maria Herbst was born in Wuppertal in 1966. After leaving school, he first completed a bank apprenticeship and then studied law. During this time, he acted in independent theatre, but never attended a proper drama school. Nevertheless, he got an engagement at the Dinslaken State Theatre. From then on, acting never let go of him and he went on to work in various theatres.
