Musicians
Max Raabe, born in Lünen in 1962, has actually always sung - in the youth choir, the choir and on his bicycle. In his early 20s, Max Raabe moved to Berlin to study opera singing. He financed his studies with small performances and founded the Palast Orchester with some fellow students in 1986.
In 1992, Max Raabe wrote "Kein Schwein ruft mich an" and performed under the direction of Peter Zadek in the stage version of Heinrich Mann's 'Der blaue Engel'. Parallel to his successful international career with the Palast Orchester, Max Raabe also performs with the pianist Christoph Israel. The duo CD 'Übers Meer' was released by Universal/ Decca in 2010.
Max Raabe's commitment to the memory of the music world of the 20s and 30s has been honoured several times. In particular, he received the Echo Klassik 2000 for his interpretation of Mackie Messer, Max Raabe was awarded the Paul Lincke Ring of the city of Goslar in 2005, the Culture Prize of his home town of Lünen in 2007 and the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin in 2012.
Since 2020, Max Raabe & Palast Orchester have been touring with the concert programme "Guten Tag, liebes Glück", named after a popular Max Raabe song. In it, "Raabe pop" is skilfully interwoven with old favourite and newly discovered songs from the 20s/30s.
