Desirée Ackermann

My name is Desirée Ackermann and I have been working as a freelance presenter for over seven years.

In 2021, I was named‘Up-and-Coming Presenter of the Year’by the Studieninstitut für Kommunikation and the BlachReport. It’s an honour that still means a great deal to me today.

Events thrive on spontaneity, quick thinking and a genuine connection with the audience – skills I have continually honed through over seven years’ experience in improvisation and presenting. 

I studied International Management, supplemented by a semester abroad in Ireland. I gained an early international perspective whilst at school during a high school exchange in Canada; in 2023, I also spent several months in New York on a professional development programme. These experiences shape my open, culturally sensitive approach to my work and my confidence in hosting events in both German and English.

As a presenter, I see it as my role to keep the energy levels high, lighten the atmosphere, bring people together and, with wit and charm, act as the connecting thread of an event. The moment I step onto the stage, the audience sees me as an integral part of the event. I represent my clients. I am fully aware of this responsibility.

For me, preparation is absolutely essential. If everything goes according to plan, that’s wonderful. But we all know that events rarely go exactly to plan. Is there a last-minute prize-giving ceremony, do tickets need to be raffled off, or is a speaker running late? In that case, I set my presentation notes aside and adapt the plan. To me, improvisation doesn’t mean being unprepared – quite the opposite. For me, it’s the ability to handle situations confidently when they don’t go as planned.

During my career so far, I’ve had the privilege of hosting events for clients including Škoda, GALERIA, DERTOUR and L’Oréal.
