Desirée Ackermann

My name is Desirée Ackermann, and I’ve been working as a freelance event moderator and host for over seven years.

In 2021, I was honored to be named Young Moderator of the Year by the Studieninstitut für Kommunikation and the BlachReport, a recognition that still means a great deal to me.

Live events thrive on spontaneity, quick thinking, and genuine connection. These are skills I’ve developed and sharpened through years of experience in both professional moderation and improvisational theatre. My improv background allows me to stay agile and composed, especially in those unscripted moments that make live events so dynamic.

I hold a degree in International Management, including a semester abroad in Ireland. My international journey began even earlier with a high school exchange in Canada, and in 2023 I expanded my professional training during an extended stay in New York. These experiences have shaped my open-minded, culturally aware approach and allow me to confidently host events in both German and English.

On stage, I see myself as both guide and connector. I keep the energy in the room alive, create space for authentic interaction, and lead audiences through the program with clarity, warmth, and presence. The moment I step on stage, I represent my client and I take that responsibility seriously.

Preparation is essential. When everything runs according to plan, that’s ideal. But as we all know, live events rarely follow the script exactly. A delayed speaker, an additional award, a last-minute program change? That’s when I adapt. For me, improvisation isn’t about winging it it’s about being so well prepared that I can confidently respond to whatever the moment requires.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of hosting events for clients such as Škoda, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, GALERIA, and L’Oréal.
