Melanie Piontek

It all began over 20 years ago in a small-town music school in Ludwigsfelde. Melanie was just nine years old and barely taller than the alto saxophone in front of her. When she holds this cool, golden metal in her hands for the first time and immediately feels the great desire to elicit sounds from this instrument, it quickly becomes clear that the two belong together! Thus begins a musical career straight out of a picture book. With passion, perseverance, a strong will and talent, she made it. In numerous musical projects such as saxophone ensembles, musicals, various choirs, orchestras and bands, she has acquired a versatile, sophisticated repertoire and today not only plays the finest jazz and blues, but also belts out catchy pop and rock solos to current music hits.

At vernissages or receptions she dances through the audience as a solo walking act, as a sax show act with DJ at company events or in discos she amazes with unmistakable solos to house and funk music. As a sax-piano duo, she plays classy background and dinner music classically and elegantly.

With her natural and refreshing manner, she enchants her audiences throughout Europe.

In 2005, she received an EU grant as a freelance musician from the European University Viadrina (Lotsendienst/KOWA) in Frankfurt (Oder). Three years later, she successfully completed her degree in cultural studies there. During her university studies, she repeatedly attracted attention with her saxophone and quickly became the personal saxophonist of President Gesine Schwan, at whose events Melanie often spontaneously surprised the audience.
